I don’t want to do this forever.  I don’t want to be in the debt/shame spiral that I’m in right now.  How is it that a family that makes close to $100K annually has over $50K in credit card debt?  I’m an accountant.  How did that happen?  I’ve said it a million times before, “I need to get control of this situation before we go bankrupt”.  Honestly, that’s where we’ll be if we don’t make any changes.  There aren’t any excuses, we did this to ourselves and now it’s up to us to get ourselves out of debt.  So, today I start my journey to become debt-free.  I’m not under any illusion that it will be easy.  I know it’s going to be hard and I know that there are going to be slip-ups but I need to keep at it if we are ever going to be secure.
